In short: register online → get a 4- or 6-digit code → open the door in Via Palazzuolo 170 with the keypad → pay the first hour at the kiosk and get a locker → lock your bags and go → come back with the same code, pay the difference and collect. No staff, no queue, open 7:00–23:00.

Automated (self-service) luggage storage is the fastest way to free your hands in Florence. If you’ve never used one, this step-by-step guide shows exactly what happens from registration to pick-up.

Step 1 – Register online

Go to our registration page and enter your name, surname, email address and phone number. At the end, your personal access code (4 or 6 digits) is shown on screen. Save it or take a screenshot for yourself. You can register on the train, at the airport or right outside the door.

Step 2 – Open the entrance door

At Via Palazzuolo 170 (4 minutes from Santa Maria Novella station), type your code on the keypad to the left of the door. The door unlocks and you enter the locker room.

Step 3 – Pay and get your locker

Go to the payment kiosk. Choose the size you need, a medium locker (one large suitcase or two trolleys) or a large one (two large suitcases or four trolleys), and pay the first hour. The kiosk assigns you an available locker.

Step 4 – Store your bags

Place your luggage in the locker and close it following the on-screen instructions. Check the door is properly shut. Remember: reopening is free within the first 15 minutes; after that a reopening fee applies.

Step 5 – Leave

Press the door-release button inside to exit. The door closes and locks behind you.

Step 6 – Collect your luggage

When you’re ready, come back any time between 7:00 and 23:00, enter the same code on the keypad, and follow the kiosk instructions. You pay the difference for the hours used, the locker opens and you’re done.

Why self-service is better for most travellers

  • No queue: you don’t wait for a counter during the morning rush.
  • Privacy: nobody else touches your bags.
  • Fair price: pay per locker and per hour, from €1.90. See all prices.
  • Long opening hours: every day from 7:00 to 23:00.
